Many of us that live in the San Francisco Bay Area have at one point walked under or rather through the “Tunnel Tree”. I am sad to say that the powerful storm that graced the Bay Area on January 7th to the 10th has toppled this iconic tree in the Calaveras Big Trees State Park.

The “Pioneer Cabin Tree,” a sequoia in Calaveras Big Trees State Park, saw horses and cars pass through it over the years. More recently, only hikers were allowed to walk through the massive tree.

Wow how sad, my dad was a tree trimmer all his life. As a result I really learned to value the life of a tree.

Looks like nature ran it’s course but who knows if the tunnel weakened it.

It’s messed up always wanted to drive my dumpster truck and take a nice scenic picture.

Obviously I run a small eco friendly dumpster business. Check us out.
